Outsource = Delegation + Gaining Focus

Following a string of recent events in the industry we have been fortunate enough to spend time with 100s of MSPs around the globe. One thing that stuck out and struck us, was the negative interpretation of the word “outsource”. For many managed service providers, they see the word outsource as a last resort or as a word meaning relinquishing control.

In a world of rapid technology evolution, it’s important that we know where to focus and when. The truth is we are going through a process of maturing as an industry and finding our sweet spot in the world economy. Something that many professional services industries have gone through before us.

to obtain goods or services from an outside source
— Outsource Definition

With the above definition in mind, outsource is a word that we feel doesn’t best represent the value we bring to managed service providers, or that managed service providers bring to their end customers. After all we know that it isn’t as cut and dry as paying for a service and then never thinking about it again.

a person or thing designated to act for or represent another or others
— delegate definition

Now you have read the above definition, it seems pretty clear to me that we are all in the business of delegation. We are the chosen people that have been designated to act in the best interests of our customers for the particular service/product we are providing. This means reporting into the person/company that chose to delegate to us, but most importantly we are accountable to them.

Uptime Solutions provide a delegated Helpdesk to MSPs.

See Uptime is no different, yes we help MSPs with the Helpdesk, but we are not a way of abdicating responsibility. You are delegating the responsibility to us for whatever you subscribe to, and as we can see above delegation is someone who has been designated to act on behalf of you. The delegation process frees you up for other priorities and tasks, but whilst at no point removing your ability to have check ins. We are going to act in the best interests of delivering and feed that back to you so you can steer the ship.
